Mo'adei Hashem, novellae and pilpulim on Sefer Mitzvot Gadol of Rabbeinu Moshe of Coucy, concerning the laws of Passover, Shofar, Yom Kippur, Sukkah, Lulav, Megillah, and Chanukah. By Rabbi Yehuda Najara. Livorno, 1808. Only edition. With the original text, including novellae on the Re’em, the Rosh, and the Maharshal. At the end of the book are the second and third sections of Shevut Yehuda by the author. On the title page is the author’s dedication: “This is the law of the offering which I bring within the sanctuary, pursuing charity and kindness, the exalted philanthropist, the wise and important R. Shlomo Nahón, may he live forever, with abundant peace, with awe of Heaven, from me the small one, the author, so may I be forgiven.” The author, Rabbi Yehuda Najara, was one of the foremost sages of Tunis in the 18th century. He was a colleague in Torah of his brother-in-law Rabbi Yitzchak Tayeb, author of Erekh HaShulchan. He composed many important works: Limudei Hashem, Alfei Yehuda, Shevut Yehuda, Simchat Yehuda, Chagei Yehuda, Mo'adei Hashem, Oheli Yehuda. He corresponded in Torah matters with the Chida, who described him in his works: “In response to one holy, upright and pure… he raised difficulties on the words of the complete and eminent sage, this great Sinai, R.
