By Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Labaton, Av Beit Din of Aram Tzovah. Izmir, 1868. First Edition. With the Author’s Handwritten Dedication. On the title page appears a dedication in the holy handwriting of the saintly scholar and kabbalist Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Labaton (1740–1869). The author passed away about a year after the publication of this work. Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Labaton was among the greatest rabbis and kabbalists of Aram Tzovah. Many wondrous stories are associated with him, and he was known to have possessed actual ruach hakodesh. In his time the city flourished spiritually. His works include Nokhach HaShulchan and Ben Yair. After his passing, his great-grandson Rabbi Yom Tov Yedid HaLevi published a book of his biography and sanctity entitled Shevachai Maharam. His liturgical poems are sung weekly within the Shirat HaBakashot. Rabbi Avraham Chamui referred to him as “Rosh al Eretz Rabbah.” [3], 142, [1] leaves. 30 cm. Very good condition.
