Tikkun Soferim Set. Amsterdam, 1768–1769 (5528–5529). Five volumes - The Five Books of the Torah – Tikkun Soferim Edition, with the Five Scrolls. ”Prepared and brought to print... by R. Itzek Premesla z”l of Prague, with precise proofreading and many notable features.” Amsterdam, 1768–1769 (5528–5529). Five volumes. The text was printed with meticulous attention to orthographic precision—plene and defective spellings, open and closed paragraphs, kri and ketiv, stress patterns, vowel distinctions (mobile vs. quiescent), and more. It was based on the Bomberg editions and other early printings. The purpose of this edition was to provide a reliable reference for scribes writing Torah scrolls and for readers to learn accurate pronunciation and cantillation. This is a handsome and refined Tikkun Soferim edition. It received approbations from the rabbis of Amsterdam: Rabbi Shlomo Shalem and Rabbi Shaul Loewenstam. At the beginning of Genesis is a lengthy preface by the printer extolling the virtues of this edition. At the top of each title page appears the verse: ”Torat Hashem Temimah” (“The Torah of the Lord is perfect”). Each of the five books includes the Haftarot section with a separate title page. The Haftarot title pages bear the date 1768. Collation: [3], 88, [2], 13, [1]; [1], 89–186; [1], 72; [1], 85; [1], 92 leaves. Size: 19 cm. Bound in five volumes, four of which are in matching bindings. Overall condition: good. Age stains present.
