Beit Din testimony deed, signed by the Baba Sali. Erfoud, 1941 - Deed of testimony regarding the marital status of a woman, her husband’s name, and that after being divorced from him she did not marry another man. At the end of the deed it is noted that this deed is a copy from the Sefer HaShetarot of the Beit Din “Melechet HaSofer.” Signed by the witnesses Rabbi Makhlouf Elzra and Rabbi Shimon Abuhatzeira, with the validation of the witnesses’ signatures by the city’s rabbi, Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira (Baba Sali). Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira [1889–1984], already in his youth revealed healing powers, and numerous wondrous stories became attached to his name. In his later years he immigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in the town of Netivot. He became famous as a supreme saint, performing wonders and miracles like the ancients. His blessings were fulfilled word for word. The Baba Sali was revered by all communities and circles, both Ashkenazim and Sephardim, and was admired by all. Hundreds and thousands came to be blessed by him and to find salvation, including the greatest heads of yeshivot and rebbes who sought his guidance. His grave in Netivot serves as a pilgrimage site, and every year a traditional hilula is held in his memory, attended by leading figures and tens of thousands of people.
