Yisrael Yoffe, [1821]. Lacking original title page. First edition, printed during the author’s lifetime. This sefer is considered the deepest of the works authored and printed by the Mitteler Rebbe, devoted largely to explaining the concepts of Yichuda Ila’ah and Yichuda Tata’ah, based on the teachings of his father, the Baal HaTanya. The book is divided into four sections: Petach HaSha’ar, Sha’ar Kriyat Shema, Sha’ar HaTzitzit, and Sha’ar HaTefillin. The Mitteler Rebbe printed ten works during his lifetime, each intended for different types of chassidim. Regarding Imrei Binah, he said it was designated for the most profound students, and even stated that it was written for his disciple Rabbi Yekutiel Liepler. The Rebbe Maharash related that he once struggled with chapters 32–37 of the book and asked his father, the Tzemach Tzedek, for an explanation, who told him to ask R. Yekutiel (see Sefer HaRayatz – Limud HaChassidus, p. 30). The Divrei Chaim of Sanz is reported to have studied Imrei Binah every night before Kriyat Shema al ha-Mittah (see Shloshet HaRo’im, Brooklyn 2004, p. 320), and he cites it in his Divrei Chaim al ha-Torah (Vayakhel 28/2): “It is explained in the sefarim, and with the most elucidation in Imrei Binah, the intention of Yichuda Ila’ah in Shema.” Referenced in: Stefansky, Chassidut no. 55.
