Sha’arei Shamayim, Prague, 1675. Only Edition. Exceptionally Rare Book - Sha’arei Shamayim, Part I titled Sha’arei Chochmah – wondrous homiletics in poetic form, linking Torah, Nevi’im, Ketuvim, Midrashim, and obscure Aggadot explained with sharpness, by the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Michel Segal. Prague, 1675. Each derashah is titled as a “Gate”: Sha’ar HaAhavah, Sha’ar HaYirah, Sha’ar HaTorah, Sha’ar HaEmet, and so on. Includes numerous significant approbations. Cites teachings in the name of the Ari, of blessed memory. The book was mistakenly attributed by some to a different author, one of the sages of Morocco, due to a manuscript of this book found in Morocco lacking the title page. This error is addressed in Malchei Rabbanan in the entry for Rabbi Chaim Tolédano, where the author Rabbi Yosef Ben Na’im clarifies the mistake. Inscription on the title page: “…Gedaliah Romanin of blessed memory, purchased from R[?] Yehuda b. Yaakov.” 154 leaves. 18 cm. Good–very good condition. Aging stains. Beautiful old leather binding.
