Printed during the author’s lifetime, with his own introduction. The author was among the great sages of his generation. In the present work, he is cited no less than four times (!) by the Maharshal. The Gaon and kabbalist Rabbi Yosef Samiga [d. 1629], one of the leading figures of his era. Born to Rabbi Binyamin Samiga in Salonika, he served as Rosh Yeshiva in Padua, and later in Venice, where he passed away. He also authored Mikra’ei Kodesh (Venice, 1586). He is known for his halachic dispute with the Ram”a of Pano regarding the laws of lulav waving, and for his involvement in the debate over the priestly status of descendants of conversos, as well as in the affair of the lenders in Ferrara. He held halachic discussions with Rabbi Chaim Shabbetai (see Shut Maharchash, Part I, Siman 91; Part III, Siman 53). 154 leaves. 19 cm. Moderate condition. Aging stains. Small tear at the lower corner of the title page, affecting the border. Damage to the lower outer corner of most leaves, not affecting text. Handsome leather-covered wooden binding.
