Ma’asei LaMelech – [Lviv?], 1849. Never before offered at auction! - Ma’asei LaMelech – sermon in honor of Emperor Franz Joseph I, may he live long, delivered on Thursday, March 15, by Rabbi Eliyahu Mordechai Ginzburg, Maggid Meisharim in the Chassidim synagogue of the Diaspora community in Lviv. [Lviv?], 1849. On the title page: “That which I preached… on the day of the rejoicing of our hearts in the synagogue of the Chassidim of the Diaspora here in the holy community of Lviv, at the time of the Emancipation and Constitution.” Year designation: Bracha VeShalom [=1849]. Emperor Franz Joseph I was deeply beloved among the Jews; during his long reign they enjoyed great freedoms and many civil rights. Rare. In Beit Eked Sefarim the date is erroneously listed as 1847, apparently without having seen the present edition. To the best of our knowledge, this work has never appeared at public auction. 16 pages. 18.5 cm. Very good condition. Aging stains. Simple binding.
