Sulzbach, 1837. First edition. The first book of the Malbim. An important halachic work, often cited in the Mishnah Berurah. The book is adorned with approbations by the Chatam Sofer and others. This work covers only the beginning of Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, since the Malbim ceased writing it in order to compose his famous commentary on the Tanach, which he deemed more urgently needed for the generation. The sacred Gaon Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund, Gaavad of Jerusalem, grandson of the holy Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Freund, who was rabbi and rebbe in Unterdam and Nasod (son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Yehuda Leow, Av Beit Din of Unterdam). He served as rabbi and rosh yeshivah in Hunyad, Hungary, and upon immigrating to Eretz Israel served as rabbi of the Beit Yisrael neighborhood, rosh yeshivah of Yitav Lev, Av Beit Din of the Edah HaChareidis in Jerusalem, and later Gaavad of the Edah HaChareidis. He was renowned for his great piety and holy conduct. He passed away in 1996. Overall good condition.
