[1], 60, 149–160 leaves. On the flyleaf: a dedication by the author’s son, Rabbi Avraham Palaggi. Rabbi Avraham Palaggi [1810–1899], son of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Palaggi, Chief Rabbi of Izmir. After his father’s passing in 1868, he succeeded him as rabbi of Izmir, a position he held for nearly 30 years until his death. He was known for his ascetic practices of fasting and self-denial, and according to accounts, merited various divine revelations. A towering Gaon, he authored dozens of works, many of which were tragically destroyed in the great fire of Izmir in 1841. He corresponded on halachic matters with leading Torah sages throughout the Jewish world – in the East, the West, Ashkenaz, and Eretz Yisrael. Very good condition. Aging stains. Plain binding.
