Rashei Besamim – First Edition. Association Copy - Rashei Besamim, novellae on Tanach, Aggadot of the Talmud, and the Zohar, by Rabbi Yeshayah Mushkat, Av Beit Din of Praga. Warsaw, 1878. First edition. Association copy. With approbations from R. Yaakov David Kalish of Amshinov, R. Elimelech Shapira of Grodzisk, and others. The author was a disciple of the Maggid of Kozhnitz, and was betrothed by the Chozeh of Lublin to the daughter of R. Yitzchak of Radwill. Upon the passing of his father-in-law in 1835, R. Yeshayah became a Rebbe himself. He first served as rabbi of Shidlowiec and other communities, and in 1840 was chosen as rabbi of Praga, near Warsaw. His close associates in Poland included the renowned rebbes R. Yitzchak of Vorka, R. Yitzchak Meir of Ger, and R. Chaim Meir Yechiel of Mogelnitza. Association Copy: Ownership stamps (in the form of a signature): “The humble Meshulam Zusia of Nadvorna, son of the holy R. Naftali of Lizhensk, of blessed memory.” On the front endpaper, names for prayer were inscribed. R. Meshulam Zusia Weissblum of Nadvorna was the son of R. Naftali of Lizhensk, son of R. Elazar, son of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk. Son-in-law of R. David Aryeh, son of R. Tzvi Hirsch of Nadvorna. One of the great disciples of R. Chaim of Kosov, author of Torat Chaim. At the command of his holy master in a dream, he immigrated to Eretz Israel, settling in Safed, where he passed away on 25 Kislev 1890. See Y. Alfasi, Encyclopedia of Chassidut, vol. III.
