Arba Me’ot Shekel Kesef – The Copy of the Rebbe of Oshpitzin (Auschwitz) - Arba Me’ot Shekel Kesef – A Kabbalistic Work Received by R. Chaim Vital from His Teacher the Ari. Krakow, 1886. With Important Hasidic Approbations. Ownership Stamps of R. Elazar ha-Levi Rosenfeld of Auschwitz. With approbations by prominent rebbes. Ownership stamps: R. Elazar Rosenfeld of Oshpitzin (Auschwitz), son of R. Yehoshua Rosenfeld of Kaminetz. Born in 1862, he became betrothed at the age of six to the youngest daughter of R. Chaim Halberstam of Sanz (Divrei Chaim), and married at sixteen. The wedding was led by her brother, R. Yechezkel Shraga of Shinova, following the passing of her father. In 1897 he was appointed rabbi of Kaminetz, and in 1907 rabbi and rebbe of Oshpitzin. In 1936 he immigrated to Eretz Israel, settling in Safed. In 1937 he moved to Jerusalem and established a synagogue in the Mea She’arim neighborhood, where he observed the Second Day of Yom Tov even in Eretz Israel. In 1939 he returned to Poland for health reasons. With the outbreak of World War II he was deported to Kshanov, later to Sosnowiec, where he passed away in 1943. [2], 79, [1] leaves. 25 cm.
