Receipt for the Kabbalists’ Yeshiva “Zichron Shimon” – Signed by the Elder of the Kabbalists, the Renowned Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi, of Blessed Memory. - Official receipt issued for a donation to the “Zichron Shimon” Yeshiva, a yeshiva dedicated to the study of both the revealed and hidden Torah, signed by Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi, Rosh Yeshiva of the famed kabbalistic yeshiva “Nehar Shalom.” The “Zichron Shimon” Yeshiva was founded by Rabbi Shimon Zvi Horowitz, one of the great kabbalists of Jerusalem, who passed away in 1947. Following his death, Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi re-established the yeshiva as a branch of the “Nehar Shalom” Kabbalists’ Yeshiva. Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi (1908–1984) – founder and head of Yeshivat “Nehar Shalom, ” named after the Rashash, and leader of the community of mekubalim. Born an orphan in Yemen, at the age of 15 he was tested publicly by the sages of Sharab on all four sections of the Shulchan Aruch and on Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah. He was ordained as a rabbi in his youth and later moved to Aden, where for six consecutive years he fasted from Saturday night until Friday evening. In 1932 he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael. In Jerusalem he founded Yeshivat “Nehar Shalom, ” where he taught both revealed and hidden Torah for decades. Many of the greatest rabbis of Israel studied Kabbalah under him. Despite his stature as Rosh Yeshiva and leader of the kabbalists of his generation, he lived his life in simplicity and humility, dedicating all funds received to the support of his yeshiva.
