Letter from Rabbi Avraham Abihatsira of Tiberias to the Wealthy Benefactor R. Yeshu’a Corcos of Marrakesh. Tiberias, 1927. - Letter from the Holy Kabbalist Rabbi Avraham Abihatsira, descendant of the Abihatsira family. In the letter, Rabbi Avraham writes to R. Yeshu’a Corcos, a prominent communal leader in Marrakesh, discussing private and family matters of the nagid. [1] Single paper leaf. 13×21 cm. Written in semi-cursive script in Judeo-Arabic (Moroccan dialect). Autograph and signature of Rabbi Avraham. Very good condition. One ink smudge. Rabbi Avraham Abihatsira of Tiberias was a kabbalist and righteous man, a member of the renowned Abihatsira dynasty and a descendant of Rabbi Yaakov Abihatsira, of blessed memory. He lived and was active in the city of Tiberias in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was known as a holy man, a miracle worker, and a benefactor, particularly among the North African Jewish community in Eretz Israel. His name appears in rare documents, amulets, and approbations, and he is at times referred to as “the holy kabbalist” or “a righteous pillar of the world.” Oral traditions relate wondrous tales about him, and he is considered a significant figure in the continuation of the Abihatsira dynasty in the Land of Israel.
