Tehillim with the Commentary ”Amarot Tehorot” – The First Chassidic Commentary on Tehillim – First Edition - Amarot Tehorot on the Book of Tehillim, authored by Rabbi Eliezer HaLevi Horowitz. Warsaw, 1838. First edition. The author, a prominent Chassidic figure of his generation, is also renowned for his work Noam Megadim. This first edition is a key milestone in Chassidic literature. Rabbi Eliezer Ish Horowitz, Av Beit Din of Tarnogród, was a disciple of Rabbi Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov and Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk, and a peer of ”The Seer of Lublin” and ”The Maggid of Kozhnitz.” A profound scholar, he garnered admiration from the leading rabbis of his time. He passed away at a young age and was interred in Kozhnitz, a city he remarked upon visiting, ”This city is fitting to rest in.” His works, Noam Megadim and Amarot Tehorot, were published posthumously and received enthusiastic endorsements from the great rabbis and tzaddikim of the era. For instance, the Seer of Lublin wrote in his approbation to Noam Megadim that, although he typically refrained from providing endorsements, Rabbi Eliezer’s stature warranted an exception. He stated: ”All his ways were for Heaven, to bring delight before the Creator.
