Rödelheim, printed at the press of the editor, 1818–1821. Five parts bound in one volume. A meticulously accurate and beautifully arranged Chumash, carefully edited and published by R. Wolf Heidenheim. At the center of each page is the Chumash text with vowels and cantillation marks. In the margins appears Ein HaSofer. At the bottom of the page appears Ein HaKoreh. With an important introduction by R. Wolf Heidenheim. Throughout the volumes are his notes and additions on grammar and Masorah. In Exodus is included a fundamental essay on the distinction between the Ta’am Elyon and the Ta’am Tachton in the Decalogue. Each Chumash is accompanied by the Haftarot with grammatical notes, and a separate title page. At the end of each volume is printed the Sabbath prayers with many piyyutim according to Ashkenaz custom, as studied and preserved by R. Heidenheim. As the Chatam Sofer wrote (Responsa, Choshen Mishpat 89): “Were it not for him, the piyyutim would already have been forgotten and no longer recited.” In copies bound in five separate volumes, the additional Sabbath prayers are included.
