First Edition - An early kabbalistic treatise on the mystical form and structure of the Hebrew letters, attributed to the ancient Tannaim Rabbi Nechunya ben HaKanah and Rabbi Yishmael the High Priest. With an anonymous commentary by an unidentified early sage. Printed in Korets, 1784 [Tav-Kuf-Mem-Dalet] — first edition. At the end appears a commentary on the secret of the Tetragrammaton (the Ineffable Name of God). In the introduction to the second edition, the publisher Rabbi Yitzchak of Galina, grandson of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk, wrote: “...The body of this book is a wondrous segulah and an exalted protection to bring blessing upon the house of Israel, for it is known that sacred matters are healing for the soul and healing for the body; and the immense sanctity of the awesome Divine Names contained in this holy book are a shield and a safeguard…” (Lemberg, 1892 edition).
