Zayit Ra’anan, by the author of Magen Avraham. First Edition. Foundational Work - Zayit Ra’anan – Foundational Commentary on Yalkut Shimoni, by Rabbi Avraham Abele Gumbiner, author of Magen Avraham. Dessau, 1704. First Edition. First and rare edition of Zayit Ra’anan, the important and comprehensive commentary on Yalkut Shimoni, authored by one of the great halachic authorities of the late 17th century – Rabbi Avraham Abele HaLevi Gumbiner, best known for his classic Magen Avraham commentary on Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim. This work is considered the most fundamental and extensive commentary ever written on Yalkut Shimoni, distinguished by its depth, clarity, and the author’s vast knowledge. Rabbi Gumbiner, one of the foremost Torah scholars and halachic decisors of Poland in his generation, integrates in this commentary explanations on rabbinic language, Midrashic interpretations, and insights combining peshat (plain meaning) and derash (homiletical exposition). In later printed editions of Yalkut Shimoni—particularly those published in Warsaw—only an abridged version of this important commentary was included. Therefore, the original 1704 Dessau edition is regarded as the full, unabridged, and especially rare version. Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod, no. 138. [11], 3–82 [should read: 82] ff. 29 cm.
