Illustrated title page - Be’er Esek, a collection of responsa by Rabbi Shabtai Be’er, a disciple of a disciple of Rabbi Menachem Azariah of Fano (Ram”a of Fano), printed by the author himself. This work provoked a heated controversy concerning the permissibility of shaving the beard, following the author’s statement that the Ram”a of Fano himself used to trim his beard. At the beginning of the book appears a poem by the author, and at the end are indexes and an errata list. [4], 132, [2] leaves. 20 cm. Very good condition. Wide margins. White, high-quality paper.
