A magnificent and meticulously prepared edition of the complete Twenty-Four Books of the Hebrew Bible, edited with exceptional care based on reliable manuscripts and early printings, aiming to produce the most accurate and refined text possible. This is among the finest and most important Amsterdam printings of the Bible in the early 18th century, executed by some of the leading Sephardic printers and publishers of the period. The volume contains all twenty-four books of the Tanakh, each with its own separate title page, in addition to a general engraved title page printed in fine copperplate engraving—five title pages in total. The printing process extended over approximately five years, and upon completion the publisher added to the general title the date 1705 (תס”ה). In the same year, a parallel edition of the Bible with the commentary of Rashi was also issued. On the verso of the main title page appears the autograph signature of the editor and publisher, David Nunes Torres, providing rare confirmation of his personal involvement in overseeing the edition and ensuring its precision. Original thick full-leather binding, with a broad spine richly tooled and gilt. A splendid, accurate, and finely printed edition—an outstanding example of the artistry and precision of the Sephardic press in Amsterdam at the beginning of the 18th century; a highly desirable copy for collectors and major Judaica institutions.
