Machzor for the High Holy Days with Selichot. Amsterdam, 1716. Nusach Sefarad - First part only, printed by Shlomo Proops, one of the foremost Amsterdam Hebrew printers of the early 18th century. Preceding the title page is a fine engraved copperplate frontispiece, typical of Amsterdam printing of this period. On the title page appears the signature of Rivka bat Yaakov de Pinto, a member of the distinguished and scholarly De Pinto family, among the leading figures of the Portuguese Jewish community of Amsterdam. Machzorim of this type are exceedingly rare in such complete and well-preserved condition, as they were in constant ritual use in synagogues and private homes, and few have survived intact. Raa’d leaves. 15 cm. Listed in Otzar HaSefer HaIvri (Hebrew Bibliographic Database), record no. 32289. Condition: Very Good. Gilt edges. Bound in original leather binding with an artistically restored spine. A fine and attractive copy of an early Amsterdam Machzor in Nusach Sefarad.
