A Psalms edition printed for the Anusim (crypto-Jews). The Hebrew text of Psalms and its Spanish translation appear in parallel columns, with a Spanish commentary printed beneath. At the beginning of the volume are poems in Hebrew, Latin, and Spanish, including compositions by Rabbi Isaac Aboab, rabbi of the Sephardic community—regarded as the first “American rabbi”—who served as rabbi of the Dutch–Sephardic colonies in South America. Numerous letters in Portuguese, resembling approbations, extol the publication of this work. The edition is dedicated to Isaac Senior Texeira, one of the wealthiest Jews of his time, who served as business director to the Queen of Sweden. [16] leaves, 458, [6] pages. 18.5 cm.
