Manuscript – Ashmorot and Prayers for the High Holy Days – Yemen, mid-19th century (1840s–1850s) - A fine and carefully written manuscript containing the order of Ashmorot (Selichot) and the prayers for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, according to the ancient Yemenite rite. Written in an elegant square script on good-quality local paper. [103] leaves, written on both sides – a total of [206] written pages. The manuscript is incomplete – lacking several leaves at the beginning of the Ashmorot section, and ending in the middle of the Minchah prayer of Yom Kippur. Size: 18 cm. Condition: very good; a few age stains. Simple new binding. An impressive and rare manuscript from the Yemenite Jewish tradition, serving as an authentic witness to the Selichot and prayer customs practiced in the ancient communities of the Arabian Peninsula in the 19th century.
