Signatures and Glosses Bearing handwritten glosses and signatures of: Rabbi Yosef Borgil Rabbi Avraham Chaim Borgil Rabbi Natan Borgil Rabbi Yosef Borgil (d. 1874) – a towering Gaon, one of the great Dayanim of Tunis, renowned for his vast knowledge, diligence, and refined character. His contemporaries wrote of him: “His Talmud is as if placed in a box.” Author of Zera Yosef and Vayiken Yosef. Rabbi Natan Borgil (d. 1874) – among the leading Rabbis of Tunis, grandson of Rabbi Yosef Borgil (the first), author of Chok Natan. He composed many works, of which only Me’orot Natan on Bava Metzia (Tunis, 1903) was printed. Rabbi Avraham Chaim Borgil (d. 1894) – one of the foremost Dayanim of Tunis, author of Chukei Chaim on the Shulchan Aruch (Djerba, 1952). A rich and fascinating composite volume, combining the scholarship of the Chida with the heritage of the Borgil dynasty, one of the most distinguished rabbinic families of North Africa.
