Letter from the Admor Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter of Ger – the “Pnei Menachem” - Autograph letter, entirely in the holy handwriting and bearing the signature of Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter of Ger, author of Pnei Menachem. Written in 5741 [1981], during his tenure as Chairman of the organization Torah VeYahadut La’am (“Torah and Judaism for the People”). [1] leaf on official stationery. 17×24 cm. Condition: very good. Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter (1926–1996) – the sixth Rebbe of the Ger Hasidic dynasty and President of the Council of Torah Sages (Mo’etzet Gedolei HaTorah) of Agudat Yisrael. Before his appointment as Rebbe, he served for many years as Rosh Yeshivat Sfas Emes, as a member of the Council of Torah Sages, and as Chairman of Agudat Yisrael. Known by the title of his work Pnei Menachem, he was famed for his fervent and lengthy prayers, often accompanied by visible emotional movement and deep concentration. He was laid to rest in the courtyard of the Sfas Emes Yeshiva in Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda neighborhood, beside the grave of his father, the Imrei Emes, Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter of Ger.
