Scroll of Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs) on Parchment - Scroll of Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs). 32 cm. Kosher and proofread, in exceptionally large letters. Artistic writing on parchment. “Rabbi Akiva said: All the Writings are holy, but the Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies.” (Mishnah Yadayim 3:5) A magnificent and elegant parchment scroll of Shir HaShirim, written by a skilled and God-fearing scribe in Ashkenazic “Beit Yosef” script, with large, stately letters in bright, glossy ink on fine, light parchment. Kosher and beautifully executed, suitable for public reading with a blessing. Scroll width: 32 cm, 11 lines per column. The scroll is mounted on an Etz Chaim (wooden roller) with a silvered crown and enclosed in a new velvet fabric case. Condition: new, never used. Customs of Reading Shir HaShirim In Ashkenazic communities, Shir HaShirim is read in synagogue, with a blessing, on the Sabbath of Passover, in accordance with the general custom of reading a festival scroll (megillah) suited to each of the three pilgrimage festivals. Other communities read it on the Seventh Day of Passover, or at the end of the Seder night, or during the Friday night service in the weeks of the Omer. In many circles — especially among Chassidic and Sephardic communities — it is customary to read Shir HaShirim every Friday evening before welcoming Shabbat, as the Kabbalists taught that Shabbat, and particularly its eve, is a time of closeness and union between the Jewish people and the Divine. Traditional Segulot (Spiritual Virtues) of Shir HaShirim (Sources: Zohar HaKadosh, Chazal, Ma’am Lo’ez, Kaf HaChayim, Ahavat Chaim) A great segulah (spiritual practice): to recite Shir HaShirim with full intention and heartfelt devotion for 40 consecutive days, making the same personal request afterward each day — and it is assured that the request will be fulfilled (“tried and proven”). A segulah for mothers whose children struggle in Torah study — to read Shir HaShirim daily and pray that God enlighten their children’s eyes in Torah. Shir HaShirim encompasses all remedies and healings in the world and benefits anyone in need of recovery. One who recites Shir HaShirim every Friday evening, sweetly and melodiously, is forgiven all sins of the preceding week. One who recites it with careful attention to every letter is saved from the judgment of Gehinnom. A well-known segulah for finding one’s destined spouse — to recite Shir HaShirim aloud, with melody, for 40 consecutive days. A wondrous segulah for marital harmony — husband and wife should recite Shir HaShirim together. One who recites Shir HaShirim daily merits awe of Heaven.
