From the personal library of Pinchas Menachem Alter (1926–1996), the Gerrer Rebbe and President of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel. Prior to assuming the leadership of the Gur dynasty, he served for many years as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Sefat Emet, as a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, and as Chairman of Agudath Israel. He was the youngest son of the Gerrer Rebbe, author of Imrei Emet. Renowned for his exceptional scholarship, he was known as the author of Pnei Menachem, named after his work. Despite his stature, he lived a life of notable simplicity, residing throughout his life in a modest, old three-room apartment. His prayers were characterized by great length and visible fervor. He passed away suddenly following a festive gathering he conducted on Shushan Purim 1996; it is related that during the gathering he alluded publicly to his impending passing. He was buried in the courtyard of Yeshivat Sefat Emet in the Machaneh Yehuda neighborhood of Jerusalem, adjacent to the grave of his father, the author of Imrei Emet.
