Tikkun Soferim ha-Yesharim, Amsterdam, [1767]. Five volumes in original leather bindings - Tikkun Soferim ha-Yesharim. The Five Books of the Torah, carefully corrected and meticulously edited by the rabbinic scholar R. (Yitzḥak) Itzik Premsla zt”l, printed by his son R. (Tzvi) Hersh. Amsterdam, printed by Leib ben Moshe Zusmansh, 5527 [1767]. Five volumes. A precise Tikkun Soferim, edited according to the emendations of Rabbi Itzik Premsla, reissued by his son Rabbi Hersh (the first edition was printed in Amsterdam, 5511 [1751]) with additions. On the first title page appears an illustration of a deer (tzvi), alluding to the name of Rabbi Hersh. In the present edition, each volume opens with the work Divrei Emet by Rabbi Itzik Premsla, explaining the reasoning behind the textual corrections. At the beginning of the first volume appear most of the approbations from the first edition, together with new approbations by Rabbi Shaul, Av Bet Din of Amsterdam, his brother-in-law Rabbi Shaul ha-Levi, Av Bet Din of The Hague, and Rabbi Shlomo Shalem. Each volume includes haftarot according to the customs of the Sephardic and Ashkenazic communities, with a separate title page. Each volume also contains an engraved copper title page (the work of the artist A. Santcroos). The Five Scrolls are included, with continuous foliation. The Ten Commandments and the Song of Ha’azinu are printed once again at the end of the Pentateuch. The publisher writes regarding the printing: “Fine paper, the like of which had not been seen in printing for many years, and new, beautiful, and excellent typefaces, evident to all who see.” A complete set with all title pages.
