Torat Chesed — by the Gaon of Lublin. The Copy of Rabbi Shmuel Salant - She’elot u-Teshuvot Torat Chesed, Orach Chaim, by the chasidic gaon Rabbi Shneur Zalman Fradkin of Lublin. Warsaw, 5643 [1883]. First edition. On the title page are stamps of Rabbi Shmuel Salant, with a handwritten note reading: “Belongs to Rabbi Shmuel Salant, may he be well (?) and I borrowed it from him for several days.” Rabbi Shneur Zalman Fradkin of Lublin (5590/1830–5662/1902) was appointed rabbi of the city of Lublin in 5628 [1868], thereafter becoming known as “the Gaon of Lublin.” In 5652 [1892] he immigrated to Jerusalem, where he founded the rabbinical court of the Chassidic kollelim. 316 pages. 33 cm.
