Responsa Brit Avraham. By a Disciple of the Seer of Lublin. First Edition - She’elot u-Teshuvot Brit Avraham, by Rabbi Avraham Tzvi Hirsch [Patsnovsky], Av Beit Din of Pilitz and Piotrków. Dyhernfurth, [1819]. First edition. The author (c. 1777–1819) was a disciple of the Seer of Lublin. At the age of twenty-three he was appointed rabbi of Pilitz, and later of Piotrków. He was a prodigious scholar of his generation and a leading halakhic authority to whom many questions were addressed (see: Y. Alfasi, The Seer of Lublin, p. 243). The author passed away at a young age in the midst of the book’s printing in 5579, before he was able to arrange the indices; his father completed the work and brought it to press. At the beginning of the volume appears Avel Kaved, a lengthy elegy mourning his passing, and the introduction includes biographical notes. Among his outstanding disciples was the holy gaon Rabbi Shlomo HaKohen of Radomsk, author of Tiferet Shlomo. Reference: Stefansky, Chassidut, no. 96. Collation: [4], 70, 144, [5] leaves. Size: 37 cm.
