Fifty sermons, one sermon for each weekly Torah portion, by Rabbi Saul Levi Mortera, rabbi of the Sephardic community of Amsterdam. First edition. Amsterdam, 1605. The book contains fifty selected sermons delivered by the author. At the end of the volume appears a detailed index listing five hundred sermons, from which the fifty printed here were chosen. In a later edition (Warsaw, 1902), two sermons were omitted due to censorship. Spanish inscription on the front pastedown. 116 leaves, 20 cm. Very good condition. Minor age-related stains. Original wooden boards covered with leather, spine restored. Remnants of copper clasps.
