Riva di Trento, 1560. “Precious stones, hewn to exact measure, on the Torah and the Former Prophets.” This volume gathers all the to‘aliyot (“lessons” or “ethical–intellectual conclusions”) written by the Ralbag in his commentaries on the Torah and the Former Prophets. In his biblical commentaries, the Ralbag frequently expounds the teaching and the practical or philosophical “benefit” derived from each verse and passage. The compiler was most likely Rabbi Jacob Merkeria (Marcarea), a physician and scholar among the sages of Italy, who also authored the introduction to this book. [40], 27 leaves. 18.5 cm.
