The Five Books of the Torah – “Ha-Chatzer Ha-Chadashah”, a scribal correction edition, with the commentaries of Rashi and Abarbanel, and additions by Rabbi Shaul, Av Beit Din of Amsterdam, under the title “Ha-Chatzer Ha-Chadashah”. Amsterdam, 1768. Five volumes. With Haftarot according to the custom of Ashkenazic and Sephardic communities. A handsome set in five volumes. Each volume includes an additional engraved copper frontispiece, depicting scenes from the Amsterdam synagogue, with biblical inscriptions such as “Vayomer Shmuel…” and “Vayitpallel Avraham…”, alluding to the names of the benefactors of the printing house, “the noble leaders, emissaries of the congregation of the Ashkenazic community”. In the bibliographic literature, an illustrated frontispiece is recorded only for the Book of Genesis; however, the present fine set contains the engraved frontispiece in each volume.
