Rabbi נתנאל ווייל (1687–1769), Av Beit Din of Karlsruhe, a descendant of Mahari Weil and among the foremost later authorities. A disciple of Rabbi Abraham Broda, who treated him as a son and married him to his niece. He taught Torah in Prague, and following the expulsion of the Jews from Bohemia in 1745 moved to serve as a rabbi in Germany, first in the Black Forest and from 1750 in Karlsruhe. He became the leading rabbinic authority of German Jewry and is renowned for his foundational work Korban Netanel on the Rosh, praised by all the great later authorities and printed as an integral part of standard editions of the Talmud.
Rabbi ידידיה טיאה ווייל (1722–1806), son of Rabbi Netanel Weil, author of Korban Netanel, served as Rabbi of Karlsruhe and of the entire state of Baden, and was one of the leading sages of his generation. He composed the commentary Marbeh Lesaper on the Passover Haggadah, though he concealed his name. He is mentioned in the responsa of leading authorities of his era, including the יחזקאל לנדא (Noda BiYehuda), עקיבא איגר, and the משה סופר. In recent years, his novellae on the Talmud and the Shulchan Aruch have been published.
