Passover Blessing Letter – Signed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. 3 Nissan (1953) - A warm and significant holiday blessing letter, signed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, dated 3 Nissan (1953), just days before Passover. The letter contains elevated and personal blessings for the approaching festival, in the Rebbe’s distinctive style: “May it be the will of the Almighty that from now on he be a good messenger to bring good tidings, both of himself and from others. With blessings for a kosher and joyful Passover, and with ample prosperity for him and for all the members of his household, may they live.” While not stated explicitly, the context indicates that the letter followed a consultation regarding the blessing of children; the Rebbe’s words, expressing hope for “good tidings, ” clearly allude to anticipated salvation and joyful news. Beyond the remarkable holiday blessings, this letter is distinguished by an additional feature of special importance: a handwritten addition by the Rebbe himself. After noting that he had responded to her and to her husband, the Rebbe personally added the word “sheyichyu” (“may they live”) in his own handwriting. Though brief, this addition carries profound meaning — reflecting his sensitivity, precision in language, and deep regard for every individual. The presence of this handwritten insertion within the body of the letter lends it a distinctly personal character and highlights the Rebbe’s meticulous care in matters of blessing. Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902–1994), the seventh leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch dynasty, assumed leadership in 1951 and guided the movement until his passing.
