Among the Leading Rabbis of Tunis - Autograph Manuscript of the Gaon Rabbi Meir HaKohen zt”l Among the Leading Rabbis of Jerba – Never Printed. 1929 An extensive and highly important manuscript comprising novellae on the Talmud, halachic responsa, and Torah insights, authored by the gaon Rabbi Meir HaKohen zt”l — one of the prominent Torah figures of Jerba in the early twentieth century, and son of the eminent sage Rabbi Mordechai Amayis HaKohen zt”l, among the chief rabbis of Tunis and leading halachic authorities of North Africa in his generation. Presented here is a rich scholarly compilation, reflecting broad mastery of the Talmud and halachic literature, marked by sharp analytical reasoning alongside clarity and halachic precision. The handwriting is dense and concentrated — characteristic of great Torah scholars whose toil in study never ceased — yet clear and orderly, attesting to a confident hand and systematic thought. To the best of our knowledge, this manuscript has never been printed. It preserves Torah teachings that were never brought to press, presenting a primary, unmediated source from the Torah sages of Jerba — a distinguished center of learning that produced leading halachic authorities and scholars. Throughout the manuscript appear several signatures of Rabbi Meir HaKohen, reinforcing its identification as an original autograph and adding historical and personal significance to the item. Physical Description 58 paper leaves, 20.5 × 14 cm. The overwhelming majority written on both sides. Condition: Good to very good. Dense yet clear handwriting. Several leaves are detached.
