Menorat HaMaor – Large Silver Memorial Lamp for a Synagogue. Morocco, 1930s – Art Deco Style Ornamentation - Cast, pierced, and engraved silver. Apparently unmarked. This memorial lamp was made in memory of the deceased “Avraham ben Simhon” and was intended for suspension in a synagogue. The upper hanger is fashioned in the form of a dome, surmounted by a suspension ring. From it descend five attractively formed chains composed of decorative links, supporting the silver base. An upper ring bears an engraved inscription with the name of the deceased, and a concave base holds the glass cup. Both the hanger and the base are decorated with foliate and floral motifs. The cup is made of thick glass and bears a gilt inscription reading: “Menorat HaMaor in memory of the deceased…” Height: approx. 108 cm; maximum width: 34 cm. Weight: 2,300 grams (excluding the glass cup). Condition: Good to very good.
