Interesting Letter from Rabbi Azriel Hildesheimer to Rabbi Leib Leitch Rosenbaum of Pressburg. 1884 - Interesting letter which reveals open admiration between the two illustrious rabbis, who conducted themselves in two different manners. Rabbi Hildesheimer starts by expressing appreciation to Rabbi Moshe Leib for sending him the book he authored on the halachahs of Sta”m [ Sefer Imrot Tehorot ]. Later in the letter, Rabbi Hildesheimer writes that his community does not sufficiently understand the importance of composing and printing books. Rabbi Moshe Leib Leitch Rosenbaum [1800-1877] was a senior student of the Chata”m Sofer, lived in Pressburg, was a dayan there and a renowned Torah disseminator. Rabbi Azriel Hildesheimer [1820-1899] served as rabbi in Eisenstadt, founded the Beit Midrash L'Rabbanim and the 'Torah im Derech Eretz' method - which drew major opposition among the zealots in Hungary. He was the rabbi of the Orthodox community 'Adat Yisrael' in Berlin beginning in 1869. He worked against the Reform movement, supported settling the Land, and Jewish communities across the world.
