Kuntres “Maamar Baruch She’Asa Nissim 5664” Received from the Holy Hand of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, with a Charity Dollar - Kuntres “Maamar Baruch She’Asa Nissim 5664”, published by Kehot, Shevat 5751 [1991], in a glossy light-green cover, accompanied by a dollar for charity. The present booklet and dollar were received directly from the Rebbe by a devoted Chabad chassid, who merited to draw close to holiness over the course of many decades. This chassid would travel regularly, year after year, to receive the Rebbe’s blessing, and at times would arrive together with members of his family, who likewise merited to receive from his hand dollar bills, coins, pamphlets, and copies of the Tanya. In this chassid’s estate, an original photograph was also found, depicting him in the presence of the Rebbe at the moment of receiving a blessing—an authentic and moving testimony to the personal connection and the elevated occasion. Motzaei Thursday night, eve of 10 Shevat 5751: In the evening, the Rebbe returned from the Ohel. The synagogue was filled to capacity, and the crowding was especially intense near the prayer stand, as the Rebbe was to lead the Maariv service. The other sections of the synagogue, including the entrances and passageways, were likewise filled with throngs of chassidim. This was due both to the large number of attendees and to the rapidly spreading news that the discourse would be distributed that night. After the prayer, the Rebbe recited the Mishnayot and Kaddish as customary. The gabbai then officially announced that the distribution of the discourse would begin shortly, and that it would take place upstairs near the Rebbe’s holy room, at the same location where the Sunday charity-dollar distributions were held. It was impossible not to sense, in the distribution of the discourse, a contemporary connection to the miracles and wonders of the “Year of Miracles” and the “Year in Which I Will Show Wonders” throughout the world, and especially in the Land of Israel. The final words of the discourse read: “This is the meaning of ‘Who performed miracles for our forefathers, ’ and the request is that it should be so in our times as well…” For hours on end, the Rebbe stood and personally handed each individual the booklet together with charity dollars. Despite the intense cold outside, the crowd flowed continuously from across the city, and many did not hesitate to bring even young children. On Shabbat Parashat Beshalach, the Rebbe referred to this distribution, explaining that it would inspire the study of the discourse in particular, and Torah study in general, and would hasten the coming of the complete and true Redemption (Mazkeret Netzach, Tomchei Temimim, pp. 47–48). 20 pp. New condition. $1 bill, serial number F28014924M, in excellent condition (it is possible that two dollars were originally distributed).
