$100 Bill Received from the Holy Hands of the Lubavitcher Rebbe for the Construction of a Mikveh – 5745 [1985]. A Highly Significant and Moving Chabad Treasure - United States $100 bill, serial number B86707935B, dated 1985, received from the holy hands of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson and given to a distinguished Chabad chassid for the purpose of establishing a mikveh in the moshav where he resided. Upon the bill, the recipient inscribed in his own hand a moving notation of primary importance: “Received from His Holy Honor the Rebbe shlita for the building of the mikveh of Moshav ... 5745.” This personal testimony grants the bill exceptional historical and spiritual significance, directly linking the gift of the bill to a practical mission entrusted by the Rebbe — the strengthening of family purity and the construction of mikvaot in Israel and throughout the world, among the causes that stood at the forefront of the Rebbe’s efforts throughout his leadership. Indeed, that chassid merited to fulfill the mission and to build a mikveh in his moshav of residence — a fact that greatly enhances the importance of the present item, as a living witness to an undertaking completed through the Rebbe’s blessing and encouragement. $100 bills distributed personally by the Rebbe are exceedingly rarer than the well-known single-dollar bills given to the masses, and were generally presented for defined communal, charitable, or mission-oriented purposes. For this reason, such items are highly sought after among collectors of Chabad, Judaica, and relics associated with great Jewish leaders. The bill is housed in a metal frame with double glass, together with an impressive black-and-white print of the Rebbe, lending it handsome and distinguished display presence. Condition: Very fine. The present bill was received from the Rebbe by a prominent Chabad chassid who merited closeness to holiness over many decades. That chassid would travel regularly each year to receive the Rebbe’s blessing, and at times came together with members of his family, who likewise merited to receive from his hand dollar bills, coins, pamphlets, and Likutei Amarim Tanya volumes. Among the effects of that chassid’s estate was also found an original photograph in which he is seen standing in the Rebbe’s presence while receiving a blessing — a vivid and moving testimony to the personal connection and exalted occasion. This bill belongs to a rare group of thirteen Chabad-related items, all from the personal collection of that same chassid. Authentication and background details will be provided to the purchaser.
