A Blessing Coin from the Rebbe – 90% Silver. Rare! - A half-dollar coin struck in 90% silver, issued in 1964. The coin was received from the holy hand of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, and was preserved in the collection of a devoted Chabad chassid who merited to draw close to holiness over the course of many decades. This chassid would travel regularly, year after year, to receive the Rebbe’s blessing, and at times would arrive together with members of his family, who likewise merited to receive from his hand dollar bills, coins, pamphlets, and copies of the Tanya. In this chassid’s estate, an original photograph was also found, in which he is documented in the Rebbe’s presence at the moment of receiving a blessing—an authentic and moving testimony to the personal connection and the elevated occasion. This coin is part of a rare group of thirteen Chabad-related items, all from the personal collection of this same chassid. A certificate of authenticity and full background details will be provided to the purchaser. The Rebbe once explained the special virtue of such a coin, emphasizing its power to draw material blessing. Just as a small amount of liquid from the remnants of a cup of blessing, when mixed even into a full barrel, imparts the quality of those holy remnants to the entire barrel, so too when money from a tzaddik—even a single coin—is mixed into a person’s possessions, all of his property acquires the special quality of the “money of the righteous, ” and all of it becomes blessed. The Rebbe concluded that this is the reason for the statement of the Sages (Bava Batra 15b), “Whoever takes a small coin from Job is blessed, ” for even a small sum from a righteous person brings blessing upon one’s entire wealth.
