High Holy Days Prayer Book in the Handwriting of Rabbi Natan ben Chelekiah Tzarum. Sana'a, 19th Century. - Before us is a substantial manuscript volume—nearly six hundred pages—containing a prayer book for the High Holy Days, including Ashmorot (penitential supplications), prayers for Rosh Hashanah, and the liturgy of Yom Kippur. The manuscript was written in Sana'a, Yemen, during the 19th century by the kabbalist Rabbi Natan ben Chelekiah Tzarum, one of the sages of the General Yeshiva of Sana'a, and bears his signature in several places throughout the volume. An impressive and highly important Yemenite manuscript, reflecting the devotional traditions, liturgical customs, and scribal culture of the Jewish community of Sana'a. [586] pages. Condition: Good.
