Personal Copy of Maran the Chida Chazon Ovadiah, homiletic discourses on all the weekly Torah portions, authored by Rabbi Ovadiah ben Rabbi Abraham HaLevi of Aleppo (Aram Tzova), one of the sages of Aleppo who later settled in Jerusalem. On the title page appears the sacred handwritten signature of Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai – the famed Chida. “And in the book Chazon Ovadiah, which was newly printed, he raised an objection to him there at length.” — Maran the Chida, Responsa Chaim Sha’al, סימן לח (sec. 94), printed in Livorno in 1795. This citation demonstrates that the Chida not only owned the present volume, but studied and referenced it in his own responsa literature. [4], 207 leaves, lacking the section Chazon LaMoed. 30 cm.
