Rav Pe’alim. The copy presented as a gift by Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad. With rare index leaves. - At the foot of the title page appears an old handwritten inscription: “This book was sent to me by the rabbi author, H.R. Chaim Yosef, may his light shine, from Babylon, may it be rebuilt, Shalom Gabai.” This notation indicates that the copy was sent as a gift by the author himself to R. Shalom Gabai, who apparently was among his close associates. Additional signatures of the recipient appear throughout the volume. Rav Pe’alim – responsa by the holy gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, author of the Ben Ish Chai. Printed in Jerusalem, 1901. First part. Includes the well-known section Sod Yesharim – responsa on matters of Kabbalah, printed alongside the halachic responsa. The present copy is especially notable in that it contains two rare index leaves at the beginning of the book, not recorded in the listings of the Bibliography Enterprise nor in the catalog of the National Library of Israel, where the book is described as having only [4] preliminary leaves.
