The Machzor of the Rebbe of Sadigura. - Machzor for the Three Pilgrimage Festivals According to the Sephardic Rite. Lublin, 1914. Ownership stamps of the Rebbe Rabbi Mordechai Shalom Yosef of Sadigura. Included are a stamp from his period of residence in Przemyśl—on account of which he became known as the Rebbe of Sadigura-Przemyśl—and two stamps from his residence in Tel Aviv. The Rebbe Rabbi Mordechai Shalom Yosef Friedman (1897–1979), a direct descendant of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, was born in Sadigura to his father, the Rebbe Rabbi Aharon Friedman, author of Kedushas Aharon of Sadigura. He served as Rebbe from the age of sixteen until his passing, for nearly seventy years. Already in his youth he was a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisrael. At the First Knessiah Gedolah, at only twenty-six years of age, he was appointed to the World Executive Committee of Agudas Yisrael and as president of Keren HaTorah. In 1923 he founded Yeshivas Meshivas Nefesh in Przemyśl. In 1925 he began sending chassidim to the Land of Israel, and in 1933 he visited the country; on Lag BaOmer he lit the bonfire at the traditional celebration in Meron. In Adar 1939 he again visited the Land of Israel and, following the advice of his uncle Rabbi Yisrael of Husiatyn, settled there permanently in Tel Aviv. He succeeded in rescuing his family from Europe and bringing them to the Land of Israel. His synagogue on Betzalel Yafe Street became a center of attraction for Ruzhin chassidim. He was among the foremost Rebbes in the Land of Israel. His Torah teachings on the Torah and festivals were collected in the series Knesses Mordechai. Good condition. Stains. Signs of use.
