Complete Set of the Five Books of the Torah with the “Chatzer HaChadashah” Commentary – Amsterdam, 1768 – Sole Edition – Five Volumes in Original Leather Bindings - Chamishah Chumshei Torah, Tikkun Soferim, with the commentaries of Rashi and Don Isaac Abarbanel, together with additions by Rabbi Shaul, Av Beth Din of Amsterdam, published under the title “Chatzer HaChadashah”. Amsterdam, 1768. Five volumes. The sole edition of the “Chatzer HaChadashah” commentary by Rabbi Shaul, Av Beth Din of Amsterdam, one of the leading rabbinic figures of the renowned Amsterdam Jewish community in the eighteenth century. Printed alongside the classic Torah commentaries, it contains original explanations and notes on the biblical text. The edition includes the Haftarot according to both Ashkenazic and Sephardic rites and was intended for use by the broader Jewish community. At the beginning of the first volume is an especially attractive engraved frontispiece, featuring biblical scenes alluding to the names of the printers, characteristic of the finest Hebrew books produced in eighteenth-century Amsterdam. Presented here is a complete and handsome five-volume set preserved in its original leather bindings—a feature rarely encountered in sets more than 250 years old. Complete copy.
