Seder Tefillot HaMo’adim – According to the Sephardic Rite. Amsterdam, 1726. Rare Edition Unrecorded in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book - Seder Tefillot HaMo’adim, festival prayer book for the Three Pilgrimage Festivals according to the Sephardic rite, edited by Solomon Judah Leon (Templo). Amsterdam, printed by Isaac Templo, 1726. An exceptionally rare festival prayer book printed during one of the golden ages of Hebrew printing in Amsterdam. The volume opens with an impressive engraved frontispiece depicting the Israelites eating the Paschal Lamb in Egypt, one of the most attractive and sought-after copper engravings found in Sephardic prayer books of the period. This edition is not recorded in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book database, nor is it identical to the festival prayer book edition printed in Amsterdam in the same year by Naphtali Hirsch ben Alexander Ziskind Levi. The present volume therefore represents a distinct and independently produced edition, of great rarity and scarcely encountered on the antiquarian market. A particularly handsome copy, retaining its original gilt page edges, reflecting its intended use as a luxury prayer book for the affluent Sephardic communities of early eighteenth-century Europe.
