“Jewish Wedding” – Artistic Silver Plaque After the Famous Painting Wedding in Galicia | Early 20th Century - An impressive silver plaque depicting a traditional Jewish wedding scene, inspired by the celebrated painting “Wedding in Galicia” by the Jewish artist Wilhelm August Stryowski (1834–1917), one of the foremost painters to document Jewish life in Eastern Europe. The original painting, completed in 1912, portrays a lively Jewish wedding celebration in a Galician town and is considered among the artist’s most notable works. It is כיום preserved in the Hungarian Jewish Museum in Budapest. The present plaque is executed in finely detailed repoussé relief, capturing the figures, movement, and festive atmosphere of the original composition. The silver panel is mounted on a wooden backing. Dimensions: 31 × 50.5 cm. Condition: Good. Minor defects, cracks, and breaks. A striking example of Jewish decorative art, combining fine craftsmanship with a moving visual representation of Jewish life in Galicia at the beginning of the twentieth century.
