Silver Charity Box – Europe, Mid-19th Century - A fine and distinctive silver charity box, hallmarked. The front of the box is engraved with a Hebrew inscription featuring dates and a personal dedication, while the reverse bears an inscription in a European language. A narrow slot at the top is designed for inserting coins, and the sides are fitted with a pair of decorative carrying rings. The body of the box is adorned with raised ribs and an elegant design, characteristic of charity boxes used in synagogues and private homes throughout Jewish Europe. Weight: 105 grams.
