A Rare Letter of Blessing Bearing the Sacred Signature of the Baba Sali, Containing Extraordinary Blessings for Success, Good Health, Long Life, and Redemption - “May God bless their strength and favor the work of their hands, with good health; may they continue to flourish in old age, vigorous and fresh. Israel Abuchatzeira.” An original letter bearing the sacred signature of one of the greatest kabbalists and wonder-workers of the last generations, Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira – the Baba Sali. ערב חג השבועות תש”ל [1970]. The letter was written on behalf of the Tomchei Torah Yeshivah in Ofakim. At that time, the Baba Sali resided in Netivot, and his spiritual influence extended throughout the cities of the Negev. In his letter, he appeals to generous supporters to participate in sustaining Torah study and to assist in maintaining the yeshivah. The letter’s outstanding distinction lies in the extraordinary blessings with which it concludes—blessings encompassing all of a person's deepest aspirations. Thus the Baba Sali concludes his letter: “May God bless their strength and favor the work of their hands, with good health; may they continue to flourish in old age, vigorous and fresh; and may they merit to witness the coming of the righteous Redeemer speedily. Written and signed in honor of the Torah and its scholars, the servant of God, Yisrael Abuchatzeira.” Few surviving letters contain such a concentrated sequence of great and fundamental blessings from the Baba Sali: success in one’s endeavors and livelihood—“and may He favor the work of their hands”; good health; long life—“may they continue to flourish in old age”; a life of vitality—“vigorous and fresh”; and the privilege of witnessing the coming of the righteous Redeemer speedily. The autograph manuscripts of the righteous and the great Torah leaders of the generations, and especially their signatures, have long been regarded throughout the Jewish world as treasured tokens associated with blessing and salvation. How much more so the present letter, bearing the sacred signature of one of the greatest kabbalists, in which he bestows all the blessings a person seeks throughout life. The Baba Sali, Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira (1890–1984), was one of the greatest kabbalists and wonder-workers of the last generations. Tens of thousands of Jews from across Israel and around the world flocked to his home to receive his blessing and counsel, and he became one of the most revered spiritual figures in the Jewish world.
